The PIONEER Team consists of professionals who have interdisciplinary backgrounds in environmental consulting, project management, toxicology, biology, chemistry, geology, computer science, industrial hygiene and safety, GIS, and software design and development, among others.  The Team’s diverse academic backgrounds, coupled with years of experience in the environmental field, ensure that your project will be managed by qualified professionals who are committed to hard work.

CHRIS WALDRON, Principal

Chris Waldron has over 20 years of successful project and technical management experience, of both small and large environmental projects, in the United States and abroad.  He is experienced developing budgets, schedules, work plans, presentations, reports, negotiating with regulatory agencies, and managing staff.  He is an expert in all aspects of risk assessment performed under MTCA, RCRA, CERCLA, and other regulatory programs.  As co-founder of PIONEER Technologies Corporation, Chris is committed to effectively managing projects to meet customers’ needs while satisfying regulatory agencies and the public. 

BRAD GRIMSTED, Principal

Brad Grimsted is an environmental project manager with over 20 years of technical and management experience.  He is an expert in the areas of human health risk assessment, toxicology, statistics, and environmental science, and is committed to effectively managing projects to meet customers’ needs while satisfying regulatory agencies and the public.  Mr. Grimsted has successfully managed both large and small projects throughout the United States.  As co-founder of PIONEER Technologies Corporation, Brad has been responsible for all aspects of the business including managing projects, consulting, marketing, and business development.

BECKY DOE, Certified Industrial Hygienist,
Senior Scientist

Ms. Doe is an environmental project manager and senior scientist with over 21 years of technical and management experience.  She is an expert in the areas of human health risk assessment, toxicology, and industrial hygiene.  She has extensive experience implementing corporate safety programs and conducting industrial hygiene surveys, and has developed hazard communication programs, personal protective equipment programs, hearing conservation programs, and compliance auditing programs.  She is a successful project and technical manager of small and large environmental projects throughout the United States, and is committed to effectively managing projects to meet customers’ needs while satisfying regulatory agencies and the public. 

TROY BUSSEY Jr., MS, PE, LG, LHG,
Senior Professional Engineer

Mr. Bussey is an environmental project manager and senior professional engineer with over 15 years of engineering and management experience. He has unique qualifications that include being a registered Professional Engineer (PE), Licensed Geologist (LG), and Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHG) as well as having Master’s degrees in both Chemical Engineering and Geological Engineering.  He has extensive experience in all phases of CERCLA, RCRA, and MTCA cleanups.  Mr. Bussey is an expert in the areas of strategic planning, remedy evaluation, remedy selection, and remedy optimization. 

SATOSHI SHIMOJI, Senior Software Engineer

Mr. Shimoji is an accomplished software engineer with over ten years of computer engineering experience.  He is highly skilled in custom software development, web-application development, automation utilities, database design, database integration, and management of large-scale databases.  As the database administrator for several extremely large cleanup sites, he has managed extensive chemical analysis databases and created automation procedures for efficient data management. 

KEVIN GALLAGHER, Project Scientist

Mr. Gallagher is a successful project scientist with over eight years of technical experience.  He is a GIS expert who has applied his expertise to a variety of large sites around the country with complex data management requirements.  For instance, he routinely uses GIS tools to calculate remediation volumes and develop exposure units to drive feasibility studies and remedy selection.  Mr. Gallagher is also experienced with conducting site investigations, risk assessments, and site cleanups.

ERIC GRIMSTED, Software Engineer

Mr. Grimsted has over six years of commercial software development and data management experience.  He routinely creates customized software solutions to improve existing software and databases.  Mr. Grimsted is also adept at integrating large databases with internet technologies to facilitate data storage and distribution to meet customer needs.

BARB ROLOFF, Project Scientist

Ms. Roloff has over seven years of technical experience and has provided technical support to small and large environmental projects throughout the United States and abroad.  She is responsible for utilizing and applying GIS to environmental projects, editing and writing technical reports, and quality assurance/quality control.  Her attention to detail and careful review of documents helps PIONEER produce high quality reports for our customers. 

KARA ROBERTS, Project Scientist

Ms. Roberts is a GIS expert who has applied her expertise to a variety of large sites around the country with complex data management requirements.  She is skilled with creating spatial data from a variety of sources and producing products in a variety of formats to meet the needs of customers.  Ms. Roberts is also experienced with conducting site investigations, risk assessments, and site cleanups.

MELODY FEDEN, Project Scientist

Ms. Feden is an environmental toxicologist who is experienced with bench scale toxicology, human health risk assessment, and GIS.  For instance, she recently completed risk assessment and risk communication support activities for a high-profile and complicated site in Naples, Italy.  Ms. Feden is also experienced with conducting site investigations, risk assessments, and site cleanups.

STACY MUNSON, Project Scientist

Stacy Munson is a GIS analyst with a background in physical geography and natural resource management.  He is experienced in modeling and characterizing the natural environment and creating products which communicate the complexities of the earth with clarity.  Experience in the field, including sample collection, site surveys, collaboration with contractors and customers, and field reconnaissance, gives Stacy a broad range of skills which help project field operations move quickly and concisely.  His experience with GIS allows him to create, manage, quality check, and display various types of spatial datasets in forms that help meet our customers’ needs and drive their projects to completion.

ANGELA NOYEN, Administrative Assistant

Ms. Noyen joined the PIONEER team bringing with her an unsurpassed commitment to customer service. Ms. Noyen has over seven years of experience in research analysis, business administration, and staff management. She has successfully managed projects, edited technical and guidance reports, and provided final reports. She also provides quality assurance to PIONEER documents and reports. Her attention to detail helps PIONEER present the highest quality of service and projects to our customers.

KATIE WALDRON, Certified Public Accountant

Ms. Waldron is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 20 years of accounting and auditing experience in public and private industry.  She is in charge of all accounting and financial functions at PIONEER including budget preparation and tracking, billings, payroll, income tax, payables and all other general accounting areas.  Ms. Waldron has managed and assisted in the planning and performance of financial statement audits, reviews, compilations and tax preparation of large and small companies. Ms. Waldron has also provided other accounting services including financial forecasts, projections, personal financial statements and other specialized services for a variety of businesses.    

GRETCHEN MALLARI, Project Scientist

Ms. Mallari is a project scientist who provides support and technical assistance to our project managers by analyzing data, providing quality assurance, and utilizing Geographical Information Systems (GIS).  Ms. Mallari’s experience in ecology & evolutionary biology, natural resources, and environmental education helps to provide high quality documents and reports for PIONEER’s customers.

LISA GRAVES, Project Scientist

Ms. Graves is a successful project scientist that provides a broad range of quality assurance experience to our environmental projects.  She applies her expertise to data analysis and reporting, carrying out sampling activities, and supporting project data by calculating health exposure levels and creating spatial analysis diagrams to create technical and guidance documents that meet customer needs.

BRIAN BELLOWS, Software Engineer

Mr. Bellows is a software developer with education and experience in biology, chemistry and his primary focus, computer science.  He has broad technical qualifications in the areas of software development.   Mr. Bellows has experience with customer relations to help provide the best service and product to our clients. 

TROY SYKES, Software Engineer

Mr. Sykes is a customer focused software developer experienced in web application design and development using Microsoft. Net Framework, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. His education and experience has strengthened his software development and testing process to achieve a high quality product that meets the needs of PIONEER's customers.

 


Employee Highlight

Stacy Munson

Stacy Munson joined PIONEER in 2010 as a project scientist.  He grew up in Rochester, a neighboring community of Olympia, and attended Western Washington University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Stacy brings valuable skills to the PIONEER Team.  He is an expert in GIS and skillfully creates figures that range from simple “post it” maps to 3-dimensional maps.  In the field, Stacy is tenacious in his pursuit of the desired samples (while keeping safety in the forefront of his mind, of course).  He is also one of the most positive people we have ever met.  He tackles every project with enthusiasm and a smile on his face.  

In his spare time, Stacy enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, bass fishing on Long Lake in his boat, working on his budding golf game, and hanging out with his cat, Walter.
